Ownership

Charging & ownership

A straight answer to the most common question: no, you don't need to charge this car. Here's what owning one actually looks like.

No charging infrastructure needed

The Insight is a self-charging hybrid (Honda's 2-Motor i-MMD system) — it never plugs in. The battery charges itself from the engine and regenerative braking, so you refuel at any regular petrol station.

Lower running cost than petrol-only cars

The electric motor handles low-speed driving and assists the engine, which typically means noticeably better fuel economy than a comparable non-hybrid sedan — actual savings depend on driving conditions and local fuel prices.

BRTA registration & import duty

Registering an imported hybrid involves BRTA paperwork and an import duty/tax assessment that varies by engine size and current government policy. We help walk you through the process, but final figures should be confirmed with BRTA or your customs agent before purchase.

Servicing

Honda Insight servicing is handled through independent hybrid-capable workshops in Dhaka. We'll share our recommended service partners once you take delivery — a warranty/service partner list is being finalized.

A BDT-denominated fuel-savings calculator (PRD §5.7 TCO calculator) needs confirmed unit pricing and current local fuel tariffs before it can show honest numbers — it isn't live yet to avoid guessing at figures that affect your decision.
